Observational Drawing: Water Refraction Art

Look at the images below. What do you notice? What looks strange? 

Set up your own glass of water ready to draw. Fill the glass (ALMOST to the top) with water. Now put a pencil, straw or spoon into the water. Alternatively, you could place your glass in front of a patterned background. How does the water change the pattern?


Look carefully and draw exactly what you see! Think carefully about shapes and shading in your drawing.
