ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION
Add and subtract numbers with up to three digits, using formal written methods of columnar addition and subtraction.
Estimate the answer to a calculation and use inverse operations to check answers.
Solve problems, including missing number problems, using number facts, place value, and more complex addition and subtraction.
MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION
3, 4 and 8 multiplication tables.
Calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division within the multiplication tables and write them using the multiplication (x), division (÷) and equals (=) signs.
Solve problems involving multiplication and division, using materials, arrays, repeated addition, mental methods, and multiplication and division facts, including problems in context.
Show that multiplication of two numbers can be done in any order (commutative) and division of one number by another cannot.
STONE AGE TO IRON AGE
We will be continuing this theme by looking at the Bronze Age and Celtic life in the Iron Age.
