This week we will be doing some activities around the picture book Flotsam. I would like you to watch the short video of the picture book first and you might want to pause it at different points to discuss what you can see, what might be happening etc, then try some of the activities. I have also added a link that includes audio if you wish to listen to a young boys interpretation of the story.
*If your child is coming into school any time this week they will be completing lessons 1 & 2 in school*
Lesson 2
In today's lesson I want you to pretend that you are the young boy in the story. Use some thought bubbles and write down what you hear, smell and see while you are at the beach. How are feeling when you discover the washed up camera?
Use these thought bubbles to write a few sentences about the day you discovered the underwater camera.
Lesson 3
Planning day
Today I want you to pretend that you are the underwater camera and describe the amazing journey you have been on. Use today to plan your story using drawings to sequence what happens. Here are some questions to think about that might help with planning your story:
Lesson 4 & 5
Over the next 2 days, use your plan to help sequence your sentences to form a short story. Remember you are trying to add as much detail as you can so use interesting adjectives and don't forget about capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
