Be inspired to believe, achieve and succeed together

English

This week we will be looking at the story 'The Jolly Postman and Other People's Letters'.

Do you have a jolly postman that delivers parcels or post to your house?

Monday 18th January 2021

Today I will be reading the story to you during zoom and we will be discussing all of the things that happen in the story.

Do you recognise any of the characters in this story?

Where do you know some of these characters from?

I have attached the story below so that you can go back to it during the week if you would like to listen to it again.

The Jolly Postman or Other People's Letters

Tuesday 19th January 2021

Today I would like you to select your favourite fairytale character and create an address for them (use your knowledge of fairytale stories and also your imagination to create their address).

What is an address?

Why do we need an address?

What do we need to use when writing an address? (Here is a clue...... use capital letters for the name of a place)

You might want to practise forming capital letters

Wednesday 20th January 2021

Today we will be looking at when we use question marks. Have a think about when we need to use question marks in our writing.

Thursday 21st January 2021

I would like you to invite your favourite fairy tale character to your 6th birthday party (I know some of you are already 6 but we are just pretending so, use your imagination laugh).

I would like you to use at least one question in your invite.

What might you ask your favourite character?

What do they need to know about your party?

You can draw a picture of what your party will look like.

See my example below.

Friday 22nd January 2021

Today, I would like you to pretend that you are your favourite fairy tale character and write a reply to the party invitation that you received yesterday.

What would you put in a reply to a party invite? What words might you use?

Remember we always use a capital letter, finger space, and full stop in a sentence. We also know that we need to use a capital letter for someone's name, the name of a place, the day of the week, and so on. Will you be asking a question in your reply?

See my example below.
