Today we would like you to explore what happens when you place different objects on balance scales.
Which object makes the scales tip? Can you use the word heavier and lighter to talk about your objects.
Before you place them on the scales can you predict what you think might happen.
Don't worry if you don't have a set of balance scale, you can place the objects in each hand to feel which is heavier and which is lighter.
Or
You can pretend to be the balance scales by holding 2 buckets, one in each hand. Place the objects in the bucket and see which sides tips.
When exploring try and use the words
Heavy/ heavier
Light/lighter
balanced
