Phonics

Today we will be looking at the digraph 'ss'.

Remember a digraph means 2 letters that make one sound.

The /ss/ spelling pattern - Mr Thorne Does Phonics

Watch UK school teacher Mr Thorne and Youtube sensation Geraldine the Giraffe take you on a learning journey through the world of phonics, grammar, spelling ...

Can you write down these words that have our new 'ss' sound in:

   mess   kiss   boss   pass   hiss

Using one of the words above, can you put it into a simple sentence. Then see if you can have a go at writing the sentence down.

Here are a few examples; A big mess.

I had a kiss off mummy and daddy.

                             I am the boss.

Try and remember what your sentence needs: A capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop at the end of your sentence.
