ENGLISH
This term we will be recapping the grammar from Year 2 and getting the children ready to write in Year 3.
We will be looking at story settings and openings, descriptive writing including poetry, instructions, non-chronological reports and many other cross curricular writing tasks.
Cross curricular texts: Stone Age Boy and How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth.
MATHS
PLACE VALUE
Identify, represent and estimate numbers using different representations.
Find 10 or 100 more or less than a given number.
Recognise the place value of each digit in a three digit number (hundreds, tens, ones).
Compare and order numbers up to 1000. Read and write numbers up to 1000 in numerals and in words.
Solve number problems and practical problems involving these ideas.
Count from 0 in multiples of 50 and 100
ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION
Add and subtract numbers mentally, including: a three-digit number and ones; a three-digit number and tens; a three digit number and hundreds.
MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION
Multiplying and dividing by 3, 4 and 8.
STONE AGE TO THE IRON AGE
This is our theme for the Autumn term. Many of the foundation subjects (Art, DT, History, Geography) will be focused on this theme.
