Trowell C of E Curriculum Vision – Geography
At Trowell C of E, all aspects of school life centre around our four core values. These values are the backbone of the school. They encompass our expectations of all members of our school community, and our ultimate goal for all the children we teach. They can be seen in our relationships, expectations, routines, policies and our curriculum. The key aims of our curriculum are promoted through our Geography curriculum in the following ways:
Curriculum enriched through visits to significant landmarks/cities.
Working together as part of a team through orienteering.
Loving and caring for our environment, both though local area studies of Trowell and Nottingham.
Through the study of different cultures around the world and that of cultures in our local area.
Children have the opportunity to carry our fieldwork studies and develop independent enquiry skills.
Using maps and atlases to locate countries and places of interest,
Taking pride in where we live through the study of our own locality and country.
Studying different continents, countries and oceans, both their physical and human features.
Studying famous explorers and feeling inspired to explore the world we live themselves.
Believe We Can Do It
Developing teamwork skills through orienteering.
Completing projects about the holidays we have been on and sharing our experiences with others.
Do The Right Thing
Making our own decisions about environmental issues.
Having an understanding and respect for different cultures both within our locality and around the world.
Having an appreciation for the area that we live, designing posters/leaflets encouraging others to do the same.
